Yuri briar infobox

Yuri Briar is the secondary/anti-heroic antagonist, the anti-villainous protagonist, and the major supporting character in Spy x Family franchise.

He is Yor Forger's younger brother and secretly works with the State Security Agency, the counterintelligence agency responsible for capturing Ostanian spies. He calls himself the spy Twilight's nemesis and is dedicated to capturing him and bringing him to justice.

Ironically, Yuri is also the brother-in-law of Loid Forger, who, unbeknownst to him, is actually Twilight's secret identity. Yuri is a recurring character in the series, and although he is not always a straight-up villain, he is often antagonistic to both Loid and the Forger Family as a whole.

Appearance[]

Yuri is a handsome, slender young man in his twenties with straight black hair with uneven bangs and a very small cowlick. He also has red eyes.

Yuri wears SSS standard clothes while working. When he leaves work, he wears a coat over a black suit and tie and black gloves.

Personality[]

Yuri has a sister complex, and from an early age she did everything in her power to earn Yoru's love and praise. However, this may be because his mother died very early in her life, which is why he is very attached to Yor as a motherly figure to her. Just the thought of Yor hating or despairing of him causes him great pain. When Yuri was young, he hated himself for not being able to help her even though she was providing for him. Because of his intelligence, he ended up getting a job in the Foreign Ministry, and soon after, a job in the secret police, where he was given the authority to protect his sister.

During his work, Yuri has a very charming attitude and calmly extracts information from the people he interrogates. Yuri truly believes he is protecting his country, but it is primarily for Yor's benefit, and he doesn't want a traitor or a scumbag breathing the same air as her. As passionate as he is toward his sister, Yuri is extremely patriotic, and when discussing "Twilight," he quickly loses his cheerful façade and becomes more cold and irritable. and become impatient. Yuri also seems to care about his family, and when she learns of the suspect's excuse for infidelity, he immediately resorts to violence. But peculiarly, Yuri loses all intelligence towards his sister and ends up completely believing Yor's excuse that she "forgot" to tell him for a year about his marriage to Loid.

Despite his job, Yuri is shown to have some degree of empathy. He was quickly angered by the way Franklin Parkin bullied his children, and after understanding his and his family's situation, he promised that his father would receive financial assistance in arresting the journalist. After Yuri states, "I see no reason for Franklin's family to witness his disgrace," Franklin poses the question of who is the real disgrace. Yuri responded by stating that he would never "inflict pain on his sister", suggesting that his sister complex overrides his sense of ethics
