Yumiko1

Yumiko is a playable character on the 2D platform fighter online video game Brawlhalla. She was a sprightly and briskly fox spirit.

History[]

Any Valkyrie can tell that the blind seamstress is the spirit of a fox that appeared centuries ago. Only half-Valkyries like Brynn have seen the great Valhalla.

Since ancient times, the Japanese village of Aoku lived peacefully on the edge of the great northern forest. Then the forest changed. The winters became harsher, and the cold seemed to flow from the forest itself. Large wolves also appeared from the forest. At first there were only one or two, but soon they became a large pack. The forest came to be called Kiba, and the villagers were afraid.

To the villagers, the blind seamstress Yumiko was a happy soul. She feared dogs, and only crude sewing could arouse her anger. No one knew that at the age of 537, she first picked up a bow and fought the Kiba monster.

The first winter, she saved an infant from a wandering wolf, and the next winter, she defeated a pack of wolves to protect a hibernating troll. Year after year, the attacks grew bigger and her skills improved. By the 25th year, she realizes she must defeat the Tengu army, slay the dragon, and confront the source of this mystery.

Exhausted but determined, she journeys deeper into the forest. There she battles the witch Ukionna, severing the connection between Yumiko's world and the warped forest that is corrupting her land. In the final moments of the battle, Valkyries appear. Without a word, Yumiko hops onto her flying horse and falls asleep happily.

Yumiko is exhilarated to compete in the tournament, but she waits patiently, sensing there is one more feat to accomplish. Yumiko flinches at the sight of Mordex, tinkers with Scarlet in her workshop, and forms a quiet bond with Asuri.
