Super Mario Series[]

Super Mario World[]

Yoshi makes his debut in this game. He and his fellow Yoshis at Dinosaur Land are kidnapped by Bowser and sealed within eggs guarded by the Koopalings. After Yoshi is freed from his egg by the Mario Bros., he helps them by letting the heroes ride around on his back and uses his long prehensile tongue to swallow enemies. Holding certain Koopa Troopa Shells in his mouth can also allow Yoshi to use different special abilities.

Super Mario 64/Super Mario 64 DS[]

Yoshi makes a brief appearance in Super Mario 64 on the roof of Princess Peach's Castle. He will congratulate Mario on collecting the castle's Power Stars and gives him an ability that prevents fall damage.

Yoshi also appears in Super Mario 64 DS as a playable character, the first one in fact. Mario, Luigi, and Wario are all captured by Bowser’s minions leaving Yoshi as the only one left to collect Power Stars. Yoshi eventually rescues Mario personally and they rescue Luigi and then finally Wario. The four heroes work together to collect all the Stars and eventually defeat Bowser and save Princess Peach. He possesses the unique abilities to flutter jump, swallow enemies with his long tongue, and lay eggs to throw. Collecting a Power Flower will allow Yoshi to breathe fire for a short time.

Super Mario Galaxy 2[]

Yoshi plays a major role in Super Mario Galaxy 2 after previously being absent in the first one. Mario finds Yoshi trapped in an egg (similar to Super Mario World) guarded by a Magikoopa. The hero defeats the Magikoopa and frees his best friend from the egg. Yoshi then teams up with Mario again. Whenever Mario finds a Yoshi egg, he can crack it to ride his Dino sidekick. Yoshi can eat enemies and apples. He also can use the spin attack and can fly just like Mario using a launch star. Yoshi also has three unique powers granted to him by specific fruits. The Dash Pepper turns him red and grants him super speed. The Bulb Berry makes him yellow and glowing and makes invisible floors visible. And the Blimp Fruit turns him blue and inflates him so he can float into the air. With Yoshi’s help, Mario and Luigi eventually manage to once again stop Bowser’s plans to take over the universe.

Super Mario Odyssey[]

Yoshi appears in the Nintendo Switch title Super Mario Odyssey. Like in Super Mario 64, he can be found on the roof of Peach's Castle in the Mushroom Kingdom after completing the game. This time Mario is able to Capture him by using Cappy. While controlling him, Mario can eat fruit scattered around the level and will receive a Power Star for the first three times he fills up his hunger meter. Yoshi retains the Flutter Jump and the ability to eat enemies and also gains the new ability to use his tongue to hang off of walls, which can be used as a Wall Jump.

Mario + Rabbids Series[]

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle[]

Yoshi is seen attending a ceremony at Peach's Castle where a statue of Princess Peach is unveiled, only for the vortex caused by the Time Washing Machine forms and begins pulling everyone, including Yoshi with it. Yoshi is not seen again until after Mecha Jr. (driven by Bowser Jr.) is destroyed and Spawny falls off the edge, where he saves Spawny from falling to his doom and joins the Heroes to save the world from the MegaBug. After that, Rabbid Peach's statue is implemented at the end of the game.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope[]

Yoshi and Rabbid Yoshi do not appear in this game, primarily since they are on vacation from the previous events, which results in them missing out on the galactic adventure that Mario and his universe's friends and Rabbid friends went on.

Mario Party Series[]

Super Mario Party Jamboree[]

Yoshi is one of the playable characters in the game and can be unlocked as an ally in Party-Planner Trek. He is found at Mega Wiggler's Tree Party and the player must win a single racing-themed minigame to have him fight against the board's boss. If the player is already using Yoshi in Party-Planner Trek, a doppelgänger of Yoshi created by Kamek's magic will fill his role instead. As a Jamboree Buddy, Yoshi will copy opponent's items while passing them on the board.

Yoshi Series[]

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]

The game begins when Kamek tries kidnapping both Baby Luigi and Baby Mario, but he only manages to abduct the former as Baby Mario lands on Yoshi Island. It's later revealed that Bowser wanted him to abduct them as Kamek foresaw that they would foil his plans in the future. Throughout the game, Yoshi (with the help of his friends) try rescuing his brother from Kamek and eventually save him.

Yoshi's Story[]

Baby Bowser casts a spell on Yoshi's Island out of jealousy of their happiness and steals the Super Happy Tree, making the Yoshis weak. Six baby Yoshis set out to stop Baby Bowser and restore peace to Yoshi's Island.

Yoshi's Island DS[]

The game starts out similarly with Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, in which Yoshi and friends must save Baby Luigi from Kamek (with it being revealed later on that he plans on kidnapping babies around the world with the intent of finding the Seven Star Children that'll help them conquer the world).

Yoshi's New Island[]

Immediately after Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, the stork has given the infant Mario Bros. to their parents, but it was discovered that it delivered them to the wrong couple who weren't expecting any children. While the stork searches for the Bros.' real parents, Kamek ambushes the stork, snagging Baby Luigi once again, and Baby Mario is sent flying to Egg Island. The Yoshis on the island settle on helping Baby Mario find his brother as Baby Bowser is turning Egg Island into his vacation home. Yoshi and Baby Mario manage to defeat Baby Bowser and his older self, saving Egg Island, and they free Baby Luigi. The stork later gives the brothers to their real parents.

Yoshi's Woolly World[]

Kamek tries to transform all of the Yoshis on Craft Island into Wonder Wools to assist in constructing a new castle for Baby Bowser, but only Yoshi himself along with Red Yoshi are spared this fate. The two then set off on a journey to restore Craft Island to its former state. In the ensuing final battle, Baby Bowser is defeated, but Kamek uses his remaining Wonder Wools to make him more powerful. Despite this, the Yoshis take down Baby Bowser again, restoring all of the remaining unwoven Yoshis back to normal. The Yoshis return to Craft Island.

In addition to 10 basic colors of Yoshis, there are there are 58 that have specific design patterns and 50 that are based on amiibo figures.

Yoshi's Crafted World[]

When Kamek and Baby Bowser tries stealing the Sundream Stone (with it being capable of granting wishes), its gems are sent flying across the world. Throughout the game, Yoshi tries collecting the gems with both Kamek and Baby Bowser eventually stealing it back. The heroes defeat them and uses the Sundream Stone to get home to Yoshi's Island.
