Woody (also known as "Sheriff Woody"; full name Woody Pride) is one of the main characters of the Disney/Pixar Toy Story franchise. He is the protagonist of the movies, and a supporting character in the short films and TV specials.

In the films, short films and TV specials, he is voiced by Tom Hanks while in other media, Woody is voiced by Tom Hanks' younger brother Jim Hanks.

Early Years[]

According to the Pixar website, The Woody doll (owned by Andy in the future) was made in 1958. For unknown reasons, Woody had forgotten his past as the star of Woody's Roundup. He would later re-discover his legacy in 1999 (during the events of Toy Story 2).

Woody is the very first protagonist of a Pixar film, because Toy Story is Pixar's very first film. He is also the first protagonist of a computer-animated film, because Toy Story is the world's first computer-animated film.
While attracted Tom Hanks to voice Woody, he would always wonder if toys came alive and moved around while nobody was in his room.
Woody makes a cameo in one of the outtakes of A Bug's Life as a crewman when he enters the frame, holding a clapper-board upside down, to mark the end of a scene gone wrong which is the scene where Dr. Flora accidentally said "Princess Abba". Flik and Heimlich would "return the favor" by appearing in a post-credit scene of Toy Story 2 (which was released one year after A Bug's Life).
