
Tsukioka Katsuhiro, known as Tsukioka Tsunan is a supporting character of Rurouin Kenshin, he is known for his beloved ink paintings of popular historical and cultural figures. However, like Sanosuke, Tsunan is secretly a survivor of the Sekihōtai and has been plotting revenge against the Meiji government for the past ten years.
Appearance[]
Tsukioka is a 19-year-old male with long, straight black hair. He doesn't use glasses. He wears typical Japanese clothing and wears a bandana to control his hair and neaten his forehead.
Personality[]
Tsukioka doesn't have many allies and seems to be a shy person. He also has a bad temper and is easily irritated. On the other hand, as a journalist, he seems to strongly value truth and justice for society.
Biography[]
During his youth at the end of Bakumatsu, Tsukioka was a junior member of the Sekihōtai along with his friend Sanosuke. Tsukioka, who looked up to Sagara Sōzō, the commander of the 1st Squad, as a hero and mentor, proved their usefulness by skillfully assembling rifles and mixing gunpowder for the soldiers of the militia. However, when the Sekihōtai was disbanded, marked as a fraud by the Meiji government, and Sagara was decapitated and made public, Katsuhiro fell into a deep depression filled with anger and spent the next ten years in solitude.
After moving to Tokyo, he changed his name to Tsukioka Tsunan and began producing nishiki-e with his reliable skills in order to make a living. With his skills, Tsunan became a fairly popular artist, earning a steady and large profit from his paintings of popular figures of the end of the Bakumatsu, such as Iba Hachiro. He also tried to sell some of Sōzō's paintings, but failed due to the Sekihōtai's notoriety. However, Masaru's true purpose since the end of the Sekihōtai has been to avenge his captain's death. Utilizing his gunpowder expertise, he used 10 to build a large stockpile of bombs with the aim of destroying various government centers around Tokyo and inciting revolts among disaffected peasants across the country. Tsunan been in seclusion for years.
