The Sphere is a major protagonist in Independence Day: Resurgence. She is the last of an unknown sapient mechanical alien species, and her species are said to have transcended biological bodies that can become mechanical.

Fighting the Harvesters[]
The Sphere's species fought the Harvesters for thousands of years after their planet was consumed by a Harvester Mothership. They gathered many members of alien races together, whose planets had also been destroyed by the Harvesters, and formed the Resistance on a hidden planet. However, the Sphere's species were all but destroyed, and the Sphere is the last of them.
Independence Day: Resurgence[]
Warning the Human race[]
In 2016, the Sphere arrived in the Sol system to try to warn the Humans that the Harvesters are returning to wipe them out; however the humans mistook the Sphere for the Harvesters themselves, and shot her ship down, except for David Levinson. The humans then sent a team to collect the wreckage, and they brought the Sphere back to Area 51 just as the Harvesters were attacking Earth again.
Revealing her Past[]
After the humans had got the Sphere out of the wreckage, one of them accidentally activated her, and the Sphere then revealed that she was an enemy of the Harvesters, and had been fighting them for thousands of years along with many other alien species that had had their worlds destroyed by the Harvesters. However, because the Sphere had been turned on, the Earth's Harvester Queen detected her, and personally came to get her. However, the Humans came up with a plan to lure the Queen by using a fake Sphere, and kill her. This plan worked, as her ship was blown up, and she was eventually killed, causing the Harvesters to leave, and ending the War of 2016.
Declaring the Human race[]
The Sphere then declared the Humans the head of the Resistance against the Harvesters, as they had now successfully defeated them twice.
Trivia[]
- The Sphere is the only survivor of her kind, but she does not want revenge on the Harvesters.
