Tanjiro Kamado is the main protagonist of Koyoharu Gotouge's 2016 manga/anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a 15 year old boy in the Taisho Period of Japan whose family is brutally massacred by the demon lord Muzan Kibutsuji, except for the sole survivor, his younger sister Nezuko. However, Nezuko's injuries from Muzan's attack has turned her into a demon herself, albeit still with her sense of humanity. This leads Tanjiro to join the Demon Slayers in the hopes of finding a way to make Nezuko human again and get revenge on the man who murdered his family.
