Shoma exhibits a carefree and trusting demeanor, though not to the point of naivety. His upbringing by his mother instilled in him kindness and empathy towards others. Witnessing the atrocities committed by his Granute relatives, including his mother's death and the exploitation of humans, fueled his determination to protect humanity. Despite acknowledging his initial weaknesses, Shoma is resolute in his quest for self-improvement and strength, embodying the spirit of a true Kamen Rider.

Shoma is a hybrid, born to Bouche Stomach, a prominent figure in the Granute World, and Michiru Inoue, a human from Earth. Due to his mixed heritage, he faced ostracism within the Granute society and was primarily raised by his mother. Tragically, his mother was killed by the Stomach Family, leading Shoma to flee to Earth. On Earth, he adopts his mother's surname, Inoue, and discovers that consuming human snacks enables him to produce creatures called Gochizo, which facilitate his transformation into Kamen Rider Gavv.
