Ryu is one of the protagonists from the Street Fighter series, he is an experienced martial artist who is very focused on training and aims to become the strongest possible.

Appearance[]

Ryu's most famous outfit consists of a white karategi with torn sleeves, medium-length hair, a long red headband, a black martial arts belt, and bare feet. In many of his appearances, Ryu carries around a large white duffel bag containing important travel items such as clothes, airline tickets, passports, and local currency.

In Street Fighter, Ryu wore a white headband and red shoes. Over time, he became more muscular. His karategi became more tattered, his gloves changed from brown to red, and his headband changed from white to red. Most notably, his hair color darkened over time. In his original Street Fighter appearance, his hair was red, brown in Street Fighter Alpha, dark brown in Street Fighter II, and black in Street Fighter III, Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter V. In Street Fighter III, Ryu's black hair has a blue tint. The red headband that Ryu is wearing was originally worn by Ken. After Street Fighter IV, the red gloves Ryu wears have been engraved with stylized letters that look like the name of a fictional brand, but they also resemble the letters of Fuurin Kazan on his belt. It became his nostalgic costume in Street Fighter 6. At TEPPEN, his gi shows noticeable wear in places, he has several bandages wrapped around his arm, and his gloves have extra padding.

In some of the official Street Fighter II artwork, Ryu's belt has his four kanji embroidered on the right edge: Wind, Forest, Fire, and Mountain. These four kanji make up Fuurinkazan. The same four kanji for him can be seen on the sign to the left of Ryu's stage in Street Fighter II, and on Ryu's belt in Street Fighter IV. These four words of his are based on Sun Tzu's Art of War, Chapter 7, and provide instructions on how to conduct a battle. "Fast as the wind, silent as the forest, bold as fire, and steadfast as the mountain."

In Street Fighter II V, Ryu wears casual clothes throughout the episode. His main attire is a white short-sleeved shirt, blue denim jeans, and red and white sneakers. He also wears a black watch on his left wrist. In this series, Ryu does not wear a red headband and his hair appears more spiky. When he is wearing his white karategi, he only wears a brown rosary bracelet on his left wrist. He looks more tanned than he did during the game.

His second alternate costume in Street Fighter V consists only of white karate pants with a black belt around the waist, the ends of the pants are tattered, and there are gray shoulder bands on each side, the hands have hand wraps. He also has a black facial hair.

This costume later became the main costume in Street Fighter 6, with the hand wraps replaced by brown gloves, a black belt with a white outline, a white wrap across the abdomen, and a slightly less dense beard. He now wears brown sandals, instead of being barefoot like in previous games. In the second trailer and as a playable character in the game, he has a large piece of torn reddish-brown tarpaulin-like cloth on his left side that reaches up to his right hip, and the cloth itself is tied to itself. It was decorated with a large gold ring. The waterproof cloth he wears is actually a kasaya made to resemble the same gi worn by his master Gouken.

In his story, Ryu's black hair was pushed down by hot water while he was meditating in a public bath. By the time he has a hard time with Honda in the public bath, before teaching him etiquette after bathing, Ryu wears a white loincloth without a back apron, and instead of his red hair, he wears a white headband with a red "V" mark in the center. Was. head band. This is also the first time we've seen more of Ryu's bare skin in a costume that's been released, and his costume that's been released is similar to the main costume from Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Superheroes. This is because it is the same skimpy underwear that Jin Saotome's character, Jin Saotome, currently wears in Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness and Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, he shows this outfit by burning his clothes during a special move and during his own taunt when drying himself with a white towel.

In Street Fighter 6 World Tour, Ryu wears casual clothing similar to the Street Fighter II V anime version. Chun-Li goes shopping for her clothes at the mall because there was a problem at the airport in another country she was traveling to. In her anime version, she wore a white fitted T-shirt, jeans, sneakers, and a navy blue and pale gold letterman jacket with a pink cherry blossom pattern on the edge of the jacket. He still wears a red headband on his forehead. This costume later became his third alternate costume in the game with some minor changes. His jeans appear to be torn at the knees and are a dirty white in color with a black belt around his waist with a silver rectangular buckle. Sneakers have been replaced by: Black sandals. A white bandana is wrapped around his head as a red headband is tied to his upper left arm and he is equipped with white martial arts gloves.

When he participates in festivals, he is seen wearing festival costumes and growing a beard. In his fight with Retsu, Ryu wears a white dogi and headband from his alpha form, but his hair remains black.
