Ron Weasley is a main character of the Harry Potter franchise. He is the best friend of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger (later, wife).

In the films, he is portrayed by Rupert Grint.

Description[]

Ron is Harry Potter's best friend. He comes from a poor family, which earned him mockery from Draco Malfoy. Despite his constant insecurity, Ron knows how to compensate with humor and sarcasm, especially in stressful and overwhelming situations. A particular trait with him is his phobia of spiders.

History[]

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone[]

He meets Harry for the first time on the Hogwarts Express as well as Hermione with whom he begins a rivalry. Like his siblings, he matches House Gryffindor. During the training with the brooms, he gets his own in the nose while ordering to get up. Along with Harry, he saves Hermione from a Mountain Troll in the girls' bathroom. Next, the trio investigate the Philosopher's Stone and find out who wants to steal it. One night, they cross the trap guarded by Fluffy and they are trapped by the Devil's Snare. Ron panicked, is saved by Hermione but is reluctant to thank her. He is the one who will lead the giant chess game and sacrifice himself so that Harry can catch up with the Stone thief.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets[]

In the second film, Ron, along with twins Fred and George, goes to the rescue of Harry imprisoned by the Dursleys. Then with Harry he misses the Hogwarts Express and uses his father's car to go to school. They crash into the Whomping Willow and Ron's wand breaks, to his dismay. The next day, he receives a Howler from his mother who berates him for stealing his father's car.
