Rodan is a giant pteranodon and is one of Godzilla 's allies. He made his debut in Rodan , where there were actually two different Rodans, though their exact relationship is unknown. He, Godzilla and Anguirus were all mutated prehistoric creatures. In Japan he is named Radon, a contraction of pteranodon and radiation.
