"Ging taught me that if just one person in the whole world believes in you, you can be redeemed." - Razor to Gon.
Razor is a character of the anime/manga series Hunter × Hunter. He's one of the G.I Game Masters and in charge of the game's lighting system and ensures that most spells work smoothly. He is also the final boss of the "Plot of Beach" acquisition quest.
Appearance[]
Razor is a tall, very well-built man with broad shoulders and large muscles all over his body. When first encountered, he was wearing a clean white T-shirt, red shorts, and green and yellow shoes. His hair is purple and has jagged edges.
His 14 demons vary in size and shape, but a consistent element seems to be their color palette. It includes a plain white body and a blue head that looks like a clown or a yellow dome. A ball sticking out from there. The exception is No. 0, who is completely blue with white hands and feet. Every demon's chest is stamped with a corresponding number in black.
Personality[]
Razor is generally easy-going and friendly, showing little hostility toward others, even those who challenge him. However, when confronting or fighting someone, he is ruthless and competitive, yet very rational. He does not take disobedience lightly and is quick to punish those who break the rules. He does not blatantly look down on those with less ability than himself, and fights without worrying about age or experience differences. Razor treats Gon as an adult rather than a child and respects him very much. He admires and envies the trust that Ging has in Gon.
Story[]
Razor was a victim of child abuse when he was young. He was rarely called by his first name and instead received insults such as "slowpoke", "good for nothing", "loser", and "idiot". He grows into a criminal who commits multiple murders and is eventually arrested by Ging. He was sentenced to death, but Ging hired him to take him to Greed Island and ask him to help create a game. Razor thought it was insane for Ging to get excited like a child at a game and ask her son not to resist. Ging then placed a hand on his shoulder, told him that she was counting on him, and called Razor by his name as well. This made Razor feel as if this was happening for the first time, and his respect and love for Ging deepened. He has lived on this island for at least 13 years.
Greed Island Arc[]
When the Phantom Troupe attempted to enter Greed Island without using the console, Razor was notified by Eta and sent to deal with them. He introduces himself to the group and shows them the Game Master exclusive spell card "Eliminate". With Phinks' reluctant approval, he teleports all the Spiders to a random location on the Asian continent. After commenting on the group's power, Razor impales the boat with an aura ball, blowing it up.
When the Kazusule's Alliance searches for "Plot of Beach," they discover that in the game's fiction, Razor is the leader of a group of 14 pirates who have taken over Souflavi, and must be chased out of town in order to obtain the card. Bopobo and his two other pirates take the Alliance members to the lighthouse where Razor and the rest of the pirates are. According to the rules of the quest, Razor declares that he will leave town if the Alliance wins at least eight of the fifteen sporting trials, but the challengers must leave the facility if they fail. He was a referee at a boxing tournament and won. He soon realizes that Gon, Killua, and Biscuit purposely lost the match in order to discover as many sports as possible without revealing their abilities, and he realizes that they will return with stronger players on their side.
About a week later, the three return with the team of Goreinu, Hisoka, and Tsezgurrea as allies, and a number of filler players. After Barry, Kes, and Rodriot achieve their third victory, Razor signals to the pirates that he is willing to lose because he is fighting the challengers. However, Bopobo rebels and tries to start a riot. When he ignores Razor's orders, the game master executes him on the spot and declares that he will be next. He then summons 14 demons with his Nen, forms an eight-man team, and challenges the players to a game of dodgeball. His claim that a normal throw imbued with an aura would be as destructive as the attack that smashed Bopobo's head scared filler players, who asked Gon to compete with only six players. But Razor says he has to compete with the same number of players. Gon then angrily demands to know why Razor killed his comrades, to which Razor calmly replies by citing Bopobo's crimes. Tsezguerra revealed that Greed Island takes place in the real world, not virtual reality. Razor cut his explanation short by saying he was isolated either way. Gon asks about Ging, causing the Game Master to recognize Ging as his benefactor's son. He releases Ren and reveals that Ging told him not to hold back if he ever challenged Gon. His show of power scares away filler players, so Goreinu summons two Nen beasts to complete his team. After the rules are explained, the match begins and Razor allows his opponent the first shot.
He retaliates by having Goreinu eliminate two demons and stop the throw with one hand. Goreinu avoids the ball by switching places with the white Goreinu and taking the brunt of Razor's throw and being destroyed. The ball bounces back to Razor, who begins a series of lightning passes with his eliminated teammate. One of them hit Tsezguerra, seriously injuring him, and Tsezguerra had to be moved off the court to receive first aid. Razor is intrigued when Hisoka defeats one demon and retrieves the ball with Bungee Gum. He combined numbers 6 and 7 on the next pitch to counter number 13, catching the ball and forcing Hisoka to cancel his ability. Gon and Killua activate Ken in preparation for Ken's attack, and Razor declares Gon as the target. Although the boy managed to deflect the throw with his kou, he was sent out of the arena and was eliminated. When the game resumes, Goreinu aims a throw at Black Goreinu, who had exchanged Razor, and hits him in the face, but the two demons' cooperation nullifies the strategy and the ball is caught before it touches the ground, and then , punched Goreinu in the face with enough force to knock him unconscious. Razor with the ball throws it towards Killua, but Killua dodges to his right, but curves the ball at the last moment. Biscuit jumps out of the way, although part of her dress is damaged, and Hisoka manages to dodge the throw, but one of Razor's demons quickly catches the ball and throws it back at him. Hisoka manages to catch him using his bungee gum, at the cost of breaking two of his fingers. Biscuit is eliminated since clothes are part of the body, and Gon uses up his team's "back" to return to the court. He gives Killua the ball and starts attacking.
Gon then punches Rock, knocking Number 13 out of bounds. While preparing her abilities again, Biscuit tells Razor that she chose the wrong sport as Gon has a lot of time to store energy, but Razor dismisses her. When Gon throws it a second time, Razor negates the ball's momentum with a bump, but Hisoka snatches the ball out of the air with his bungee gum, forcing the Game Master to spend his "back". Biscuit defeats No. 2, leaving Razor alone on the court. When the match resumes after a timeout requested by Tsezguerra, Razor dispels the Nen Beast and collects the dispersed aura. He then threw the ball into the air and prepared to spike it, but the formation of Gon, Killua, and Hisoka allowed him to catch the ball. Impressed, Razor analyzes their strategy and praises Killua's mastery of Ryu. To end the match quickly, he decides to take them out one by one, immediately after Gon's next attack, before they can regroup. When Gon summoned an even stronger aura than before, Razor was speechless and silently described him as a monster, reflecting that he was indeed Ging's son. Admitting that he cannot catch the ball, he hits Gon with it and it bounces off him, convinced that the boy will try to catch it instead. However, Gon passes out from exhaustion and the ball flies past him. Hisoka returns it with Bungee Gum and Razor tries to bump it again, but the sticky aura sticks the ball to his wrist and sends him out of play. The referee declares Team Gon the winner.
After the match, Razor approaches Gon to answer his questions about Ging. He reveals that Gon's father is not on the island and talks about his past as a criminal and his encounter with Gin. He says he did his best, congratulates Gon on his victory, and hopes he finds Gin.
