~ Pocoyo when he's happy to see Pato. |
Pato is the deuteragonist of the Pocoyo franchise.
He is one of Pocoyo's best friends. Due to his status as a major character, Pato is featured in most episodes, tending to shop up alongside his friends, including Elly, Baby Bird, Loula, Caterpillar, Baby Bird and Pocoyo himself.
Physical Appearance[]
Pato is a yellow duck with big black eyes. He has small wings for hands, and an orange beak which can rotate 360 degrees and feet. He always wears a green hat on his head.
Personality[]
Normally, Pato appears to be very passive about most things and sometimes very calm. He loves gardening and flowers above all else, but he also enjoys things like skateboarding or listening to rock music.
He can be pretty fussy when someone messes something up, or if he dosen't get his way, and his temper has no bounds. He can also become demanding, stubborn or greedy when put in a tough spot. But he is usually very nice, and often acts cool to try cover his insecurities. Sometimes he can be a bit too dramatic,
Biography[]
Pato is a yellow duck who wears nothing but a small green hat. He has a fondness for gardening, and is often seen watering plants and flowerbeds. Pato means duck in Spanish, Portuguese, Filipino, Tok Pisin and Papiamento. He is a favorite amongst the young children due to his enjoyable dancing and the fact that his beak turns 360 degrees. Although friendly, Pato is the most fussy and impatient character (indicated by his beak that bends in an angle when disappointed or shocked); on occasion he completely loses his temper, jumping up and down and quacking furiously with his beak spinning rapidly. He is used as a jackhammer or missile and can become a helicopter.
Trivia[]
- Pato's name is both the Spanish and Portuguese word for "duck". It also applies in Filipino, Tok Pisin and Papiamento.
- He is a favourite amongst the children due to his enjoyable dancing and the fact that his beak turns 360 degrees. His beak usually only folds downward when he is scared or grumpy.
- Pato is only seen eating in "Pato Underwater".
- In the pilot episode in 2003, he was first called Ducky then changed the name to Pato.
- In "Pocoyo's Christmas Carol", the scene of the ghost of past Christmas shows a younger Pato and Pocoyo. It is also shown how Pato hatches from his egg and befriends Pocoyo by giving him his pacifier after he drops it. As ducks naturally grow faster than humans, this explains how Pato is already a adult while Pocoyo has only turned 10.
- In "Nina", Pato somehow loses his beak when Nina pops up from behind the flowers during her debut.
- Pato is shown to have the ability to shape-shift, as seen in "Scooter Madness".
