Mirabea Lou Nebulis VIII is a major recurring character of the series Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World. She is the current Queen of Nebulis Sovereignty and the mother of Aliceliese, Sisbell, and Elletear.

Appearance[]

Mirabea is a beautiful woman who looks a lot like Aliceliese. She has long blond hair and red eyes, and she has a melancholy expression on her face. She wears a white robe with gold borders, red tassels hanging from her dress, and she wears gold shoes. The top of her robe is fastened with a white belt, also trimmed in gold.

However, in the manga, Mirabea wears her crown and a more Victorian dress with alternating black and white patterns.

Personality[]

Mirabea is a callous, almost stoic woman. Although she doesn't show much emotion, it's clear that she harbors a great deal of hatred for the Empire. She, however, is a moderate compared to the Zoar family, and she does not go to all-out war because of the number of lives that will be sacrificed to her. To her, she's the same as everyone in the Empire, whether she's part of the military or not. This is especially shown when Alice is reminded that the Empire has ruthlessly hunted down and oppressed Astral Mages in the past, as well as the Imperial artists she admire.

She is also the mother of three daughters, but she is cold to her daughters because she puts being queen first. Despite showing no signs of her motherhood, she still cares deeply for her daughters. In her inner monologue, she told both Elletear and Sisbell that Alice wanted them to be their queens, despite acknowledging them as "fine ladies." She eventually apologizes for being unfit for the role. Her queen needed someone strong enough to defend herself against imperial assassins, and only Alice met the requirements.

Ironically, this led to her eldest daughter betraying her family. When Mirabea was young, she ignored Elletear because she had weak astral powers, and because she was unaware of the ridicule Elletear endured.

History[]

Mirabea entered the battlefield at the age of eleven and over the next ten years captured 3% of the empire's territory. Her extraordinary astral powers and her physical skills made her an all-time queen contender and a genius of the Sovereignty. During this time, she was described as an expressionless, emotionless war automaton that annihilated the Imperial army.

She eventually meets the criminal Salinger, who stole over 100 astral spirits and was after her as well. Mirabear defeats him, but she has him as a sparring partner instead of executing him, as he can withstand her power. Since then, there was an unspoken understanding that the two would quarrel if they passed each other.

But one day she came across Salinger carrying a shopping bag full of bargain-priced goods, and laughed out loud at imagining him competing with her housewives for it. She called for a truce, and she said she fled the castle because she was embarrassed by falling asleep during the meeting. Though she only thought of Mirabea as a "bloody war automaton", she was surprised that she acted like a normal human and thought she was rather cute.

Unfortunately, their relationship would come to an end when Salinger attacked Queen Nebulis VII to steal her power. But the truth was much more complicated than that. He just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when the Queen was attacked. Her killer fled just as Mirabea arrived, so Mirabea assumed it was Salinger's crime, and they fought. Salinger lost, and as a result was sent to the Olergan Prison Spire without even trying to defend himself.
