Merlina is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. She is a member of the unique townspeople of the world of Camelot and the granddaughter of the legendary wizard Merlin. An exceptional and talented young wizard, Merlina serves the court as the royal wizard of Camelot.
When Merlina learns that only ruin and war awaits her future, she seizes the sheath of Excalibur from the corrupt King Arthur and sets aside her world forever. For this reason, she summons Sonic the Hedgehog to her own world and sends him on a journey to retrieve her sheath. Once Sonic was successful, Merlina attempted her plan, but was thwarted and redeemed by Sonic before her actions could destroy the kingdom.
