Leo Aiolia is one of the prominent characters of Saint Seiya. He is one of the Gold Saints. He is the guardian of the 5th House in the Sanctuary, the Leo Temple.
Personality and background[]
Aiolia are the first Gold Saints introduced by Masami Kurumada in the manga in Volume 1 with Saga disguised as the Pope, but their ranks were not revealed until later volumes. When she first appeared, Aiolia existed at the moment when Pegasus Seiya received the Pegasus Bronze Cloth and was given the status of Athena's Saint.
Aiolia is designated as the Witness of the Sanctuary for her justice and strength. He is the younger brother of Sagittarius Aiolos and is considered a traitor who tried to kill Athena when she was still a baby. Because of this, Aioria works hard to prove his loyalty to the goddess and erase the shame his brother's deeds have inflicted on them. Even when Aiolia thought Aiolos was a traitor, she showed great respect for Aiolos' memory.
Masami Kurumada stated in one interview that she intended to use Aiolia as the main character in the series, so she appeared early in the manga, but she later decided to use Pegasus Seiya. Still, a few years later, at the request of Kurumada, Megumi Okada wrote the manga "Saint Seiya Episode G" centered on the Gold Saints and featuring Aiolia as the main character. This manga was written seven years before the main story and depicts Aioria, a young saint who was the victim of a false story that tainted her brother's image.
She Aioria is impulsive and has a hot soul that drives her actions. This causes several conflicts between him and the gentle Aries Mu. It is hinted throughout the story that he and Virgo Shaka are close friends. Aiolia is named after the mythical island of Aeolia or Aeolia, home of the wind god Aeolus.
He is also called the reincarnation of Achilles because of his talent and power.
Chronology (Episode G)[]
Despite being naturally blonde, Aiolia dyes her hair red to distance herself from her brother, whom most of Sanctuary believes to be a traitor. However, it is revealed that even though he resents her brother and suffers terribly because of him, she still loves him very much. This conflict is behind the resentment he harbors against other Gold Saints, which often drives him to fight them and challenge the Pope's orders. Aiolia considers her loved ones to be her family, especially her squire Litos, Chrysalis and Garan. Following the teachings of John Black, he proudly fights not for himself, but to protect everyone and everything he holds dear.
His fierce personality, Cosmo, and combat skills attract the attention of Pontus, who recognizes him as a potential threat to his plans, and Hyperion, whom he encounters during the Titan's initial invasion of Sanctuary. They call Leo Saint "the man of evil omens", and Kronos prophesies that he will free him from Zeus' seal.
At one point, Aiolia is tasked with guarding Virgo Shaka, and the Virgo saint goes into deep meditation to banish the evil monsters that Titan's presence on Earth has invoked. And the first match with Koios. Overwhelmed by the power of the Titans, Aiolia needed the encouragement and strength of her brother's memory to unleash the "Photon Burst" attack that Aiolos once advised never to use. He thereby overthrew Koios and would have destroyed him had it not been for Hyperion's intervention. Aiolia dedicates the spell to her brother, saying she created it to protect her brother.
When the Titans invade Sanctuary for the second time, Aiolia shows her will again in a battle against the Titan King Cronos. He professes his belief that humanity is not worthless and that Titans have no right to interfere in humanity's lives. Severely injured, he attacks Cronos with a "Photon Burst". However, the Titanes thwarted the attack and annihilated the king, freeing Cronos. Cronos ended the battle completely unaware of who he was, and the other Titans believed it was due to Aiolia's attack, and planned to lure the Saint into the Labyrinth of Time in order to regain the king's memory. After Dimension Rapetos abducts Lythos, Aiolia does not hesitate to follow him into the Titans realm, where she battles not only the second Iapetus and Themis, but also Pontus, Koios, Hyperion, and a restored Cronos.
Chronology (Hades Chapter)[]
After a panic battle with Raimi, Aiolia arrives at the Temple of Virgo with Mu and Milo, where Saga, Camus, and Shura defeat Virgo Shaka with the forbidden technique Athena Exclamation. I was shocked to see him killed. Aiolia punches the three and provokes them. "You can use that technique against me... Cowards, why don't you use the Athena Exclamation to attack me!" After a few fights, Saga, Camus and Shura charge up another Athena Exclamation and threaten to do the same again if anyone stands in their way, while Aiolia, Mu and Milo do the same. I will
The two Athena's powers of exclamation collide and destroy the Temple of Virgo. Eventually, the combined power of these two attacks was lifted into the sky and exploded by the combined power of all four Bronze Saints. Athena beckons them both to stop fighting and come to the statue of Athena.
Athena tells the fallen Gold Saints that she no longer needs to suffer and commits suicide.
Learning the truth about Athena and Shaka's deaths, Mu, Aiolia, and Milo arrive at Hades' castle, where they confront Wyvern Rhadamanthys. Surprisingly, Rhadamanthys easily overwhelms the three, revealing that Hades Castle is under Hades' will and universe. All saints have their power reduced by a factor of ten. He easily defeats all three and throws them into the abyss, sending them to Hell.
When Seiya was thrown into Cocytus, a frozen hell that imprisons those who defy God, the figures of Mu, Aiolia, and Milo, who were trapped there, also apparently died. However, once Athena arrived in Hell, they were resurrected and set free by her power. Virgo Shaka and Libra Doko arrive in front of the Wailing Wall, the entrance to Elysium, and try to break through the wall with Libra's weapons, but fail. Ultimately, they must collect all twelve Golden Cloths, sacrifice themselves to open this gate, and allow the Bronze Saints to reach the Elysian Plain, the Paradise of the Gods and the true home of the Underworld. His armor is given to Phoenix Ikki and used in subsequent battles.
Chronology (Soul of Gold)[]
Aiolia was resurrected to Asgard by an unknown force. Asgardian soldiers believed the disorientated Saint Leo to be a troublemaker, so Aiolia was placed in the local prison. There he meets Lyfia, the handmaiden of Queen Hilda. He learns from her that he is in Asgard and that her strange powers are befalling the land. Aiolia attempts to return to the Sanctuary first, seeing that the largest eclipse must still be underway and that Athena must still be fighting Hades, but finds her relentless Lyfia in danger. Aiolia comes to protect her. During the battle, Aiolia was able to temporarily enhance her Cosmo and transform his Gold Cloth into God Cloth.
Over the next few days, Aiolia helps Lyfia find out what's going on in Asgard while reuniting with the other resurrected Gold Saints. They learn that the Asgardian god Loki sought to obtain a sacred and powerful weapon to rule Asgard and the world. Fighting and teaming up with other Asgardian god warriors reveals Aiolia to be the warrior chosen to don the robe of Odin. He tried his best to defeat Loki with the Cloth of Odin, but at the moment it proves impossible. Only after Athena sent the bloody petals did Aiolia and the other Gold Saints obtain the God Cloths.
Aioria will deliver the final blow to stop Loki and free Asgard. Aiolia gave Lyfia a necklace and promised that his soul would always watch over her, making her the last Gold Saint to disappear.
