Hibiki, formerly known as Hitoshi Hidaka, is one of the main protagonists of Kamen Rider Hibiki. He is a demon who transforms into Kamen Rider Hibiki.
Personality[]
He is one of the most experienced demons currently active. It is unknown when he began his training, but it is said that Hibiki trained as a demon on his own and became the first to use the Ongekizofukuken Armed Saber, surpassing the demons of the past. Hibiki has a strong sense of ethics, and he believes in constantly training himself and staying strong. Throughout the series, he is seen training alone or with other demons. Even though Hibiki sees himself as just one of the combatants in the fight against Makamou, he is viewed by the other demons as something of a teacher. Because of his training, he is rarely seen worrying and believes that with constant training he will definitely make it to the top, and there is no need to worry about his safety. He says his hobby is actually training. His trademark is a special salute that he uses to greet and farewell alike.
History[]
Hibiki is a calm and collected demon. At 31 years old, he is the oldest of the core demons. Not much is known about his past, but he seems to have acted similarly to Asumu in his youth. His worries and doubts, and his desire to protect his friends, were the reason he became a demon. He takes care of Asumu, helping him and giving advice when needed. Among the three main riders, Hibiki is the most experienced, and although he does not say so himself, he is the smartest of the current demons, and is respected by his friends like a mentor. He and Takeshi's weapon designer, Midori, have been friends since childhood. His support as a demon is Kasumi Tachibana and Hinaka Tachibana. They often take him to the Makamo family's place until he learns how to ride a motorcycle and gets his own bike.
Hibiki meets Asumu on a cruise ship bound to Yakushima Island and saves a boy who is about to fall off the ship. The two meet again on the island and then part ways. Afterwards, Asumu leaves his family and goes sightseeing in the mountains by car, but is attacked by Tsuchigumo. Hibiki saves Asumu tomorrow, but he then witnesses Hibiki's transformation into a demon and becomes interested in Hibiki ever since. However, after the incident, Asumu loses confidence in passing the exam to enter Johnan University and frequently asks Hibiki for advice.
Hibiki is close to Ibuki and her student, Akira. They usually meet and talk together and work together to fight Makamou. Hibiki is also good friends with Zanki and Todoroki. He was surprised when Zanki announced that he was quitting his job as a demon, and he regretted it. Hibiki then encouraged Todoroki to do well in his first battle as an independent demon. As a trio, Hibiki, Ibuki, and Todoroki often support each other in missions
On a summer day, Hibiki ends up fighting Summer Makamou and helps Todoroki practice his drumming. He also undergoes intense training and reaches his red form. In his Kurenai form, Hibiki's power is nearly double that of his base form, and in this form he can easily defeat various types of Makamou in one blow.
Hibiki doesn't really understand technology. He doesn't know how to send email on a computer. Moreover, he doesn't even know how to use a computer. He does not have his own cell phone and is unable to communicate with others when he is out, usually using Kasumi's phone or a payphone to make calls. He also doesn't have his own bike at first and can't ride a bike at all. Since then, he thinks riding a bike is cool and really useful. He decided to learn to ride a bicycle and got a Gaika.
Just then, Kogure appears and forces Hibiki to undergo rigorous training. He wants Hibiki to become stronger than him, and he pushes Hibiki with all his might. Although Hibiki had a friendly relationship with Kogure, she was one of the first to encounter his eccentric training. Kogure then reveals that his training is aimed at allowing Hibiki to wield the Ongekizofukuken Armed Saber, a weapon that allows Hibiki to become even more powerful than his Kurenai form. In the ensuing battle, Todoroki uses the Ongekizofukuken Armed Saber and is blown away by its power. Hibiki desperately picked up the saber and tried to use it, but ended up with the same result as Todoroki.
The two demons then lose their ability to transform. When this happened in the past, the demon was never able to regain its power, but as revealed by Danki and Shouki when Kogure used them as guinea pigs, if the demon undergoes intense training, the final Eventually their power will return. Danki and Shoki regain their powers through a month of training, which Hibiki must overcome. Through training with Kogure, Hibiki regains his powers along with Todoroki.
Hibiki and Todoroki, who have regained their powers, face Makamou, known to be the strongest, in their next battle. A giant three-headed demon whose sole purpose is to kill. Kogure appears and throws the Ongekizofukuken Armed Saber to Hibiki, saying that it was always destined to be used by him and that it would release his true power. Hibiki, hesitant, finally uses his saber and easily defeats Makamou.
Later in the series, Hibiki meets another boy named Kyosuke Kiriya. Kyosuke, who was estranged from Hibiki's father, meets Hibiki and begins pursuing him in hopes of making him his disciple. Kyosuke, who only knows what his father did in life, sees becoming a demon as a chance to surpass his father. Hibiki claims that this is for selfish reasons of wanting to become a demon and that he will not allow him to become his disciple, but Kyosuke is adamant about becoming his disciple. Eventually, the rivalry between Kyosuke and Asumu turns into a partnership as the two begin pledging to become Hibiki's disciples.
Hibiki, not confident in his skills as a teacher and not wanting to lose his students like he once did, rejects all their appeals. Later, when Akira Amami gives up on being Ibuki's student, she convinces Hibiki to let Asumu and Kyosuke become his students. Under Hibiki, Asumu performed better, while Kyosuke struggled in almost every practice session. Asumu was clearly physically fit to become a demon, but he didn't have the right mindset to become one. Hibiki convinces Asumu to continue being her disciple. For a while, the three continue to train, but Hibiki finally realizes that Asumu's position in this world is not that of a demon. He allows Asumu to quit, but he very much regrets that he pushed him to stay as a student.
Hibiki has always played his role as a demon within Orochi very well. He sees that Todoroki is sad about his body and Zanki, and gives Todoroki advice to be more optimistic. After Ibuki is chosen to perform the Orochi Seal, Hibiki feels that Ibuki is not ready, but he wants to live his life as long as Ibuki is with Kasumi. So Hibiki decides that the demon will seal Orochi in Ibuki's place. During the sealing, Hibiki ends up fighting many Makamou. Ibuki and Todoroki arrive to support them. While defeating a special rock meant to seal Orochi, Hibiki loses Rekka. However, Kyosuke arrives, receives Rekka, throws it to Hibiki, and continues his mission.
Hibiki and Asumu, who had lost touch with each other after the big battle with Makamou in "Orochi Sealing," meet again one year later at the hospital where Asumi works and share an awkward time together. In the end, Hibiki and Asumu are reunited. Hibiki says that as a demon, he cannot be Asumu's mentor, but he can be a mentor in life and help him become a better person. The two watch the sunrise while remembering their first meeting, and Hibiki reveals to Asumu that he was his disciple from the beginning, and Asumu stays by Hibiki's side even though he chose not to become a demon.
