Akyuu FS4

Hieda no Akyuu (稗田 阿求) is one of the recurring characters of Touhou franchise and the main protagonist of Perfect Memento in Strict Sense and the current "Child of Miare" (御阿礼の子), who is born in the Hieda family once in every 120 to 180 years with the ability to "not forget anything she sees" and records Gensokyo's history.

Appearance[]

Akyuu has purple hair, purple eyes, and wears a light pink flower-shaped ornament in her hair that matches the flower on her sleeve. She has yellow floral sleeves, a green vest, and a shortened hakama skirt separated by a red and white lace belt. She uses her glasses to read.

Personality[]

Akyuu, like the Children of Miare before her, has a perfect memory. This makes her the perfect candidate to record a comprehensive account of Gensokyo's history.  However, since she has a different personality than her predecessors and only carries fragments of their memories, her perfect memories only apply to her current life. Akyuu's own monologues and reflections are included in the descriptions she writes. Therefore, they should beware of being prone to misunderstandings, lack of proper research, or outright lying (not necessarily from Akyuu, but from her sources).  However, even though it was written by someone who is not omnipotent, it is information from someone who believes it is their duty to correctly record Gensokyo's history, and most of it is highly likely to be true.

She is usually kind, good-natured, and even accepts others despite her status. She's preaching.

Abilities[]

As an incarnation of Child of Miare, Akyuu has the same photographic memory as her ancestor, Hieda no Are. It also has a means of reincarnation, although it's more of an arcane skill than an innate ability. In her footnote to the Bunbunmaru newspaper article of birth, she states that only memories related to the Gensokyo Chronicle are preserved between reincarnations, and in her monologue, her memories from ancient times are very unclear. However, she even retains memories of her distant ancestor.

Her means of reincarnation seem to require several years of preparation before her death, such as negotiating with Yama for a job in her afterlife.  Miare children have a short lifespan and rarely exceed the age of 30.  As a result, Hieda is unable to spend most of her existence as a normal human being.  However, she doesn't seem to be having too much trouble these days, as she's been able to befriend yokai who live long enough to meet her in multiple lives.
