Freddy Fazbear is the titular mascot and a major antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. Despite this he has also been portrayed as a protagonists in a few of the games in the franchise.
In Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery, he is voiced by Tim Simmons, who also voiced Nightmare Freddy. In the scrapped Showtime performance for Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted, he is voiced by Kellen Goff, who also provided the voices for Funtime Freddy and the Daycare Attendant.
Personality[]
Freddy Fazbear is a charismatic figure who wishes for other children to be safe and doesn't wish to see others die like him, this is shown when he teams up with Puppet to try and stop Afton from killing more children. Despite Freddy failing this goal of saving the children he leads his gang (The Missing Children) and makes plans for them to get their revenge on their murderer. Freddy is very strategic as he tends to be very stealthy to get the advantage on his opponents and Freddy is very intelligent. In the first game he hides behind the player's door so that they don't see him when they check the window and when Freddy sees his time to strike he then kills the player. Freddy does genuinely care for his gang and only wishes to lead them, Freddy has shown to have excellent leadership skills since he's able to lead an entire gang and come up with plans to get their revenge. Despite this he still tries making kids happy in the daytime and only wishes to make them happy and constantly tries to protect them from Afton and other adults which is why he and his gang are so aggressive towards adults and not children.
History[]
Backstory[]
Freddy Fazbear was designed to be the main animatronic mascot of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. and was the successor to Fredbear. A boy called Gabriel was lured by William Afton in the Spring Bonnie costume to the Safe Room, and was murdered, then was stuffed into the Freddy suit. Afterwards, the Puppet allowed Gabriel to possess Freddy. Due to the smell from the bodies, the animatronics, including Freddy, were put in storage, but kept for spare parts.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2[]
The company tried to repair Freddy and the others, fitting them with facial recognition software, but they were deemed ugly, so were left for spare parts in the Parts/Service room. Withered Freddy was presumably among the animatronics who attacked William when he infiltrated the Pizzeria as a security guard, and he was moved to the Dayshift, where he committed a massacre. In the minigame SAVETHEM, Freddy and the Puppet raced around the building trying and failing to save the children.
From Night 2, Withered Freddy becomes active, but only picks up on Night 3. He heads to the Main Hall, then Party Room 3, on the way to the Office to kill the next night guard, Jeremy Fitzgerald. When Withered Freddy is in the hallway, and when Jeremy lowers the Monitor, Freddy stands in front of the desk as the lights flicker before he vanishes. Jeremy fends him off by putting on the Freddy Head the moment he sees Freddy inside The Office, fooling the facial recognition. As well as this, Jeremy could use the Flashlight while Freddy was in the hall. After Fritz Smith's shift on Night 7, where the animatronic's AI levels are altered, Freddy, along with the other original animatronics, is kept, and repaired for the next Pizzeria.
As well as this, the pre-night cutscenes, occurring before FNaF 1, are seen from Freddy's perspective, where he's standing on the Show Stage alongside Bonnie and Chica, and presumably is in his FNaF 1 design.
Five Nights at Freddy's 1[]
Freddy, along with Bonnie and Chica, was seen performing on stage at the new Pizzeria. Freddy's jingle could be heard on Phone Guy's Night 4 phone call, implying he was part of the attack on Phone Guy that killed him. During the first two nights of Mike Schmidt's shift, Freddy remained on the Show Stage while the others headed towards the office, perhaps as a way of studying his tactics. He would only attack if the player ran out of power. However, from Night 3, Freddy began his attack, hiding himself in the darker areas of the rooms. He headed through the Dining Rooms, and the Restrooms, before entering the Kitchen, where his jingle would play. Freddy could only enter the Office through the East Hall, except when the power has been drained, in which he will only enter the Office via the West Hall. Mike had to monitor the cameras, and close the right door.
Five Nights at Freddy's 3[]
Freddy only appears in the minigames, set at some point after the Pizzeria has closed. On Night 1, he is lured from the Stage to the Safe Room by Shadow Freddy, and is then dismantled by William. However, on Night 5 the soul inhabiting him blocks the exit with the others to prevent William from escaping. With William's death in the Spring Bonnie suit, he faded away with the others. A child with Freddy's mask is seen getting freed in Happiest Day. In the fire at the end of the game, the body is destroyed, freeing Gabriel and destroying Freddy Fazbear forever.
Ultimate Custom Night[]
Freddy returns in the Ultimate Custom Night. In this game, Freddy will approach from the left side hallways. The Player needs to keep track of him and close the door when appropriate to ensure Freddy can't get inside and kill the player. He also moves faster the higher the temperature of the office is.
Help Wanted[]
Freddy Fazbear appears as the titular character in the VR game The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience.
WARNING: As Freddy is "dead" (The robot is destroyed and the soul is free) during the events of Help Wanted, this is NOT the real Freddy. Like the game implies, FNaF VR is a game made by Fazbear Ent. in the timeline, so this is not the real Freddy Fazbear. Same with AR.
Freddy returns in 2 different game modes in the game. His first appearance is in the Five Nights at Freddy's game mode. In this mode, he behaves just like he did in FNaF 1, where he will approach through the right hallway and will jumpscare the player should he make it to their office. To prevent this, the player must close the right door when he is close. Alternatively, if the player keeps checking on him on the camera, he can be stalled and practically won't move unless the camera feed changes for too long. On Night 5 he turn into his 'Neon" form which is essentially the hard mode version of him.
Freddy's second appearance is in his Parts and Service game mode. In this game mode, the player must remove apparel from Freddy's mouth and chest cavity. Once that is finished, the player must remove Freddy's internal music box. In a scripted event, the player drops Freddy's music box and Freddy becomes upset with his eyes glowing, in addition to the Virtual Reality narrator remarking that dropping Freddy's music box was a dire mistake. The player must then replace his music box with a repaired one with haste. Once that is accomplished, the player is finished and the game ends.
In FNaF 2 on night 6 the DLC nights is the only time the withered's appear(besides Withered Foxy) and along with them is Withered Freddy. Withered Freddy functions the same way he did in the second game and the difficulty can be selected from easy to hard.
FNaF AR: Special Delivery[]
Freddy is one of the most common characters to encounter in Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery. To avoid being jumpscared, the player must locate him through static, look away while he haywires, and shock him when he charges and materializes.
Trivia[]
- Freddy is only a protagonists thanks to FNaF 2, the SAVE THEM mimigame had it not been for that Freddy wouldn't be on this wiki.
- He's the only classic animatronic to be considered a protagonist.
