Cindy Aurum is the mechanical expert at Hammerhead Garage and the supporting character in Final Fantasy XV. She maintains the player's car, the Regalia, and can customize and upgrade it. She is the granddaughter of Cid Sophiar, who owns Hammerhead's service station. Cid is the name of a recurring older man in the Final Fantasy series who either has an engineering background or has something to do with airships. Cindy's Japanese name is "Cidney", reflecting that connection.

Cindy is bright, motivated, and always passionate about her work. She has a passion for cars and is fascinated by technology originating from Crown City, which has been isolated from the rest of Lucis for 30 years. Despite her harsh childhood, she is optimistic and friendly to everyone. Despite having many fans of hers, she is not interested in dating and it has been noted that "she is married to her job". Her work ethic stems from her upbringing with Cid and her long friendship with Holly Teulle, whom Cindy considers a role model. Holly and Cid are Cindy's inspiration for her "get it done" attitude and are the two most important people in her life.
