The Church of Seiros, also known as the Central Church, is a religious, anti-heroic/anti-villainous organization that appears in both Fire Emblem: Three Houses & Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Its headquarters are Garreg Mach Monastery in the Oghma Mountains of central Fódlan, a neutral region and home to Official Academy. As neutral nations, they maintain peace around the continent by keeping the other three nations in check.
History[]
Saint Seiros, the church's founder and namesake, is said to have been given a revelation by the goddess who watches over Fódlan, "gift to help guide the lost". Seiros first appeared in the Enbarr region of Fódlan 41 years before the founding of the Adrestian Empire. She performed miracles that inspired people, and the Church of Seiros was founded to worship her.
The Adrestian Empire was founded by Great Emperor Wilhelm I in the year 0 of the Imperial Calendar, and Enbarr was chosen as its capital due to the presence of Seiros. In the year 32 of the Imperial Era, King Wilhelm I began the War of Heroes with the goal of conquering all of Fódlan for the Empire. Liberation King Nemesis united the Empire's enemies under his leadership. Seiros finally defeated Nemesis at the Battle of Tailtean in 91, but the war did not end until 1998 when Lycaon I, the successor of Wilhelm I, died of illness.
In 185, the Garreg Mach Monastery was completed. Immediately afterwards, Seiros and his four apostles attempt a ritual to revive the goddess, but the ritual fails and the Holy Grail used in the ritual is sealed.
In 751, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus seceded from the Empire after winning the War of the Eagle and Lion. The Church crowned Faerghus's first king, Loog of House Blaiddyd, and granted the country autonomy. In 801, the Leicester region revolted against the Empire, and the Kingdom took the opportunity to occupy the region. In 861, upon the death of Klaus I, his three sons divided the kingdom into his three parts, each to rule a certain portion as Grand Duke. After the death of the archduke of Leicester in 881, the Lords of Leicester were given the opportunity to form alliances rather than accept a successor, and the Crescent War broke out. The war ended in 901 with the establishment of the Leicester Alliance under the leadership of the influential Duke of Riegan. The constant threat of invasion from the surrounding countries of the continent eventually forced these three of his powers to unite under the Church.
Around 1065, the Southern Church, based in the imperial capital, incited a large-scale revolt that engulfed the empire. In the aftermath, the Southern Church was dissolved and the Ministry of Religion was established, led by the House Varley.
In modern times, these three nations exist in a state of relative peace and balance, thanks in large part to the mediating influence of the Church and the efforts of Archbishop Rea. The church also runs a military academy that trains Fódlan's royalty and nobility in the arts of war, magic, and leadership.
