Protagonists Wiki

Cheelai (チライ Chirai) is formerly a soldier of the Frieza Force and the tritagonist in Dragon Ball Super: Broly and a minor heroine in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. She was voiced by Nana Mizuki in the Japanese version, and by Erica Lindbeck in the American English version.

Description[]

She is a known juvenile delinquent in the galaxy, who appears to be emotional, impulsive and regularly acts on emotions, helping out people without thinking of the potential consequences. After stealing a Galactic Patrol ship from Universe 7, Cheelai took refuge in the Empire of Frieza to flee from his pursuers, but she actually knows almost nothing about the heartless dictator and had only heard rumors about him.

She teams up with Lemo in recruiting powerful warriors for Frieza's army. Upon finding an old distress signal on the planet Vampa, they land and find Paragus, to be later saved by Broly from one of the planet's creatures. Cheelai and Broly become fries, with Cheelai saving the Saiyan from her metal collar upon seeing how inhumane Paragus's treatment of his own son was.

Upon reaching Earth, Cheelai witnesses Broly's fight against Goku and Vegeta, where she is worried that someone like him will be turned into a killing machine, blaming everything on Paragus. Together with Lemo, they both steal the Dragon Balls of Kikono's possession and Cheelai asks Shenron to send Broly back to Vampa where he was found, before the Saiyan was killed by Gogeta. The two then steal a spaceship and head towards the planet to to live with Broly.

Three days later, Goku appears in Vampa and gives them provisions to make their stay more comfortable, with the promise that he would visit them to fight and teach Broly some tricks. Cheelai thanks him for this, although Lemo says that they would possibly leave the planet, which didn't worry Goku.

Cheelai and Lemo accompany Broly as he is taken to Beerus's planet for training the Saiyan's incredible yet uncontrollable power. In a sparring session between Goku and Broly, the latter almost lost control again until the more experienced Saiyan alerted him to stop before it happened.

Beerus was annoyed at uninvited guests on his world, but due to finding Cheelai attractive, he permitted them to stay, although only if Lemo prepared a feast. After the meal, the group watch Goku and Vegeta fight, while eating ice cream. After hours, the fight ended, with after years of trying Vegeta finally claiming a triumph over Goku, albeit both collapsed from exhaustion. Cheelai complained it had become boring after the first few minutes, only to see Lemo and Broly driven to tears out of immersion and awe, which made her comment about how men are all foolish - in this context, idiots for being so moved by battle.
