Matthew Adams (Born September 26, 1988) is serves as a Supporting Antagonists-Turned-Anti Hero who's an Australian professional wrestler currently signed to AEW under the name Buddy Matthews. He was previously signed to WWE under the name Buddy Murphy (known simply as Murphy from January 2015 to June 2016). Buddy is a one-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion and two-time Tag Team Champion, once with his mentor, Seth Rollins, the Monday Night Messiah, as Raw Tag Team Champions and once with Wesley Blake as NXT Tag Team Champions.
Buddy Murphy is One of the FORMER Novenary Antagonist from WWE who is a Tag Team Partner of Elias Twin Elder Brother of Ezekiel, Fiancee of Aliyah and a Retired Member of Team Roman Reigns's Attackers. He is an Arms Masters just like Dean Ambrose, Baron Corbin and Brock Edward Lesnar.
He is a Backstabbing Right-Hand Man of Erick Rowan after quitting to Both of Them that He is a Low-Class Member of the Fractions. Synopsis[]
On the Feb. 20 episode of 205 Live, Murphy competed in the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. He defeated Ariya Daivari in the first round. On 205 Live on March 6, Mustafa Ali eliminated Murphy in the quarterfinals. On the March 27 episode of 205 Live, Murphy won the WWE Cruiserweight Title fight after defeating Akira Tozawa, Kalisto and TJP. On April 5, on opening night at WrestleMania Axxess 2018, Murphy competed in the WWE British Championship Invitational, where he was eliminated in the first round by Lio Rush. At the Axxess event, Murphy teamed up with Kalisto to defeat Gentleman Jack Gallagher & TJP in a doubles match.
On May 29, Murphy appeared on 205 Live, where he fought Cedric Alexander for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship but was unsuccessful in winning it. Murphy will meet Alexander in three back-to-back home shows on WWE Live in the first week of June, but has failed to win the title on those occasions. He returned to 205 Live on June 5 for a no-match match against Mustafa Ali. On June 19, Murphy took on Hideo Itami and Mustafa Ali in a triple threat match, and Ali and Murphy both lost to Itami. On July 3, Murphy played against Mustafa Ali in a non-disqualification match. On the August 7th episode of 205 Live, Murphy teamed up with Tony Nese to defeat the Lucha House Party (Kalisto and Lince Dorado). On August 21, Murphy and Nese lost a tornado tag team match to The Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado). On Aug. 28, Murphy closed out the month with a win over Callisto.
After a string of live performances, Murphy returned on 205 Live's September 11 show, defeating Gran Metalik. The following month, on October 6, Murphy took part in the Pay-Per-View Super Showdown in Melbourne, Australia, defeating defending champion Cedric Alexander in a title match to become the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Murphy defeated Alexander in back-to-back title fights during the WWE house show on October 27 and October 28.
In August, Murphy joined the lineup for SmackDown Live. His first televised match took place on August 13th on SmackDown Live. The match was against Roman Reigns remain after Roman accused Murphy of being involved in a backstage attack on Roman in previous weeks. The game ended with Murphy being defeated. Murphy also drew the ire of Daniel Bryan and Rowan after naming Rowan as Ryan's attacker. The following week, on the Aug. 20 episode of SmackDown Live, Murphy faced Daniel Bryan in a singles match due to Murphy's hints at Rowan, and Murphy defeated Bryan. He quits to Team Roman Reigns' Attackers that They ever gets very angry Him.
