Bruce Irvin (Also known as Nightmare Impact, simply Bruce) is a character in the Tekken franchise. He is a Muay Thai Kickboxer who made his first debut in Tekken 2 as a minor antagonist, as well an unlockable character and sub-boss for Lei Wulong, a mentioned character in Tekken 3, an anti-hero in Tekken 5 and a supporting antagonist in Tekken 6.

Bruce Irvin was born and raised in Rough Neighborhood, One Troublemaker by Criminals and Gangsters. While at a Young Age, Bruce was left with no Family when His Parents and Older Brother were attacked and killed by Gangsters. With no Other Family to turns to, Bruce was forced to survives, Alone, on the Streets. This did not breaks Him, however, and knowing that He has to be Strong to survives, Bruce trains in the Art of Muay Thai Kickboxing. Forced to fights on a Daily Basis to survives on the Main Streets, Bruce turns this to His Advantage by competing in the Underground Fight Scene to earns Money, where He soon develops a Fearsome Reputation due to His Vicious Temperament and Uncompromising Technique. This led Bruce to competes in Professional Tournament, where He soon becomes the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship.

He was voiced by Crispin Freeman in Bloodline Adaption.

Appearance[]

Bruce is a Tall, Muscular African-American Man with Brown Eyes and Black Hair, styled into a Mohawk, and a Small Goatee Beard. Upon His returns in Tekken 5, Bruce has More Facial Hair; Short, Neatly-Groomed Stubble that rans along His Full Jawline, as well as arching in front of His Top Lip. He also has a Small Ponytail, secured with a White Hairband. Bruce also has Three Distinctive Tattoos - Two Tribal Designs on His Chest, One of Each Side, and a Large Abstract Piece on His Back, which seems to shows a Phoenix or Dragon-like Design. In Earlier Titles in the Series, He has Another Two Tribal Designs on His Back, Similar to His Chest Tattoos.

As a Muay Thai Kickboxer, the Majority of Bruce's Outfits haves Consisted simply of Shorts, as worn by Practitioners of the Sports. These Shorts are Typically a Shade of Blue, but Pink has also been used, and Bear Fire-like Patterns. He has also worn White and Red Shorts with His Name on the Front. Bruce usually wears Band Wraps, and wrapping on His Lower Legs and Ankles when wearing His Boxer Shorts. He sometimes also wears Leg Protectors and Boxing Gloves.

Bruce also has a Casual Outfit consisting of a Tank Top and Jeans, decorated with Flame Patterning, with Brown Shoes, and a Black Tracksuit. In Tekken 6, He gains a G Corporation Military Outfit consisting of a Pale Green Shirt and Pants, a Bulletproof Vest, Combat Boots and Knee Pads.

Bruce debuts in Tekken 2 as the Sub-Boss of Lei Wulong; His Two Outfits follows what was to becomes His Recognizable Style.

Bruce wears a Pair of Navy Blue Shorts with Red Flames decorating the Lower Edges and a White Waistband. He also has a White Wrapping around His Hands and Ankles. This is His "Muay Thai" Outfit.

Bruce wears a Pair of White Shorts with Red Bands around the Edges and "Bruce" written on the Front, also in Red. He also wears a Pair of Dark Blue Boxing Gloves, tied with White Laces, and Matching Ankle Protectors. This is His "Mixed Martial Arts" Outfit.

Bruce's Outfits in Tekken Tag Tournament were Updated Versions of His Tekken 2 Outfits.

Bruce wears Purple Shorts with a White Waistband and Ornate Orange and Red Flame Patterning along the Bottom Edges. He also wears White Wrapping on His Hands and Forearms, as well as His Lower Legs and Ankles.

Bruce wears a Pair of White Shorts with Red Bands around the Edges and "Bruce" written on the Front in Large Red Letters. He also wears a Pair of Indigo Boxing Gloves with White Bands around the Wrists and Purple Ankle Guards with White Edges.

After His Hiatus in during the Third and Fourth Tournaments, Bruce returns in Tekken 5 with Updated Outfits.

Bruce wears a Pair of Light Blue Shorts with a White Waistband and Artistic Black, Blue, Red and Orange Flame Designs decorating the Sides. He also wears a White Hairband, a Necklace bearing a Decorative Bull's Skull and has White Wrapping covering His Hands and Forearms, as well as His Ankles and Lower Legs.

  • In Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection, His Shorts are Recolored Pink, the Patterns remained Unchanged.

Bruce wears a White Tank Top and Black Jeans, Both adorned with White Flame Designs, and Brown Shoes with Black Soles. He also wears the Same Hairband and Necklace from His Player One Outfit, as well as a Silver Bracelet and White Hand Wraps.

  • In Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection, Bruce's Jeans are Recolored Purple and His Tank Top is Recolored Black, the White Flame Decoration remains Unchanged.

More Ornate than His Previous Outfits, Bruce's Third Outfit consists of Blue Shorts with Gold Bands around the Edges, a Gold Fundoshi-Style Belt with Long Ribbons hanging from the Sides and Matching Gold Wrapping around His Lower Legs, leaving His Feet Bare. He also wears a Gray Headband, tied at the Back with Long Tassels hanging Loosely, and matching Armbands around His Upper Arms.

Bruce returns in Tekken 6 with His Main Outfits remaining unchanged.

His Tank Top is Now Light Gray (In the Arcade and Console Versions) or Dark Grey (In the PSP Version) instead of White.

  • Bruce is fought in Scenario Campaign Mode as the Boss of the G Security Service, Operation Headquarters Stage. During this encounters, He will be wearing His G Corporation Military Attire; a Pale Green Shirt with Matching Pants, a Black Bulletproof Vest, Black Combat Boots and Knee Pads and Black Gloves.
    • Bruce can be seen wearing a Similar Outfit in His Ending Movie.

Bruce returns as a Playable Character in the Non-Canon Spin-Off, Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Once again, His Outfits were largely unchanged.

Bruce wears a Black Tracksuit that has Orange Stripes down the Sides of the Pants and Sleeves, as well as an Orange Collar and Orange Bands lining the Pockets and Zipper. He also wears White Sneakers and Black Fingerless Gloves.

His Player 2 Outfit in Tekken 5 but in Shirtless as His Tank Top is replaced with a Long Red Cape on the Waistline of His Jeans and it was hanging Loose on His Back, His Jeans are Now White with a Gold Belt and a Matching Buckle and His Shoes were Black.

Personalities[]

Bruce is a Brooding, Cynical Individual with a Threatening Persona, always Merciless against His Opponents. However, He despises bullying and constantly looks out for those More Vulnerable than Him, having a Soft Spot for Children. This is Most likely due to His own Troublemaking Past and Rough Background. He also holds Gangsters in Contempt due to killing His own Families by Them, though He Himself will willingly dismays whoever stands in His Ways. Bruce lives to fights, and is Very Confident of His own Ability while showing Little Respects for His Competitors and no Fear in the Face of Danger. In Tekken 6 also reveals that He is also a Natural Leader during a War with His G Corporation Army Teams against One of Jin's Zaibatsu Army Team.

Bruce is a Muay Thai expert and Kazuya Mishima's Former Bodyguard. At an Early Age, Bruce loses His Father, His Mother, and His Twin Elder Brother. He turns fighting to copes with His Losses and later joins the Police Force. He was also a Role Model for Children, as shown in His Endings. Bruce was sent to Japan to investigates the Mishima Zaibatsu, which Kazuya Mishima was corrupting. Kazuya arranges for the Plane to crashes, and Bruce survives without His Memory. Kazuya's Men rescues Him and Bruce becomes One of Kazuya's Bodyguards.

Bruce was once thought to be dead after His Flight Home from the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2 was reported to be crashed. However, it was revealed in Tekken 5 that Bruce has been working for Several Special Units for Many Years, and was Currently working as a Survival Technique Guidance Instructor. After being Reacquainted to Kazuya Mishima at the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Bruce decides to assists Kazuya with His Scheme to takeover G Corporation. After They succeeds, Kazuya manages to controls the Corporation from behind Closed Doors.

  • Bruce is shown to be Ruthless and Violent except when it comes to helping the Vulnerable, and Particularly when it comes to bullies Children. He has a Hatred of Gangsters, and yet is unfazed by working for Kazuya Mishima and the More Criminal Direction He takes the Mishima Zaibatsu. It is thus Possible that Some of Bruce's Empathy for Kazuya may comes from Their Shared Rough Upbringings.
  • Bryan Fury succeeds Bruce in Tekken 3. As such, They shares Many Similarities, such as Moves, a Single Win Animation (which Bryan performs in Tekken 3), Their Nationality, and an Involvement with and Hatred of Lei Wulong. Despite these Facts, there is no Confirmed Relationships between the Two in the Storyline.
    • Josie Rizal succeeds Bruce in Tekken 7 and has Some of His Moves as well as a Fighting Style Similar to His. Josie's Fighting Style is an Eskrima-based Kickboxing based also on Yaw-Yan, meaning that Bruce has been replaced Two Different Times by Two Different Characters, making Him the Only Character to holds this Distinction.

  • One of Bruce's Item Moves is a Mohawk that gives Him the Ability to summons Baby Chicks out of nowhere. This seems to be a Reference to obscure Fatal Fury Character, Duck King who owns Several Chicks.
    • In His TTT2 Ending, His Connection with Chicks was further reinforced, as He is seen rescuing a Baby Chick from getting run over by a Car, seemingly not caring if the Passenger of the Car gets Injured or killed in the Process.
    • According to Bruce's Tekken Supporters response in the Wii U Version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, However, He does seems to intends to pays for the Damage done to the Car.
    • In Bruce's Ending, the Real Jaycee and Her Friend are briefly seen when Bruce runs in between Them.
    • Bruce's Item Move has Him orders a Chicken to charges at the Opponent, a Reference to His Ending in which He saves a Chick.
