Artemis is a playable character and the anti-heroine on the 2D platform fighter online video game Brawlhalla. She gained ultimate power from the "will of the universe" itself. While her predominant assignment is to obliterate Orion, Artemis was ready to brawl in the tournament with the full force of the stars and the galaxy itself, unleashing her cosmic powers on unsuspecting enemies in the eternal tournament.
History[]
Philosophers sometimes speak of a "cosmic will", a consciousness that transcends even God. We may never know if the universe has a will, but we do know that it has an immune response. When a foreign object streaked the skies of Valhalla, the reaction was celestial antibodies. When the name Orion was spoken, Artemis was born, but she did not call herself that for many years.
Born as Mary Washington in West Plaza, New York, she was a voracious reader who loved strawberry ice cream. Mary had a relatively normal childhood, but her parents sometimes wondered why she read the story of the goddess Artemis killing the hunter Orion over and over again.
Mary was too eager to confront her opponent. At the first sign of her powers manifesting, she opened a wormhole with the intention of entering Valhalla. Instead, she appeared in the vacuum of space. Struggling for her survival, she fought to maintain a cocoon of atmosphere that circulated from nearby worlds. In her desperation, she ripped the core from a nearby star to forge her armor and obliterated the first solar system. From there, she traversed the perils of space, racing through Tri-Nova, wiping out Starchampion's fleets, and blowing up the Eternal Leviathan, to name a few. Once ready, the completed Artemis arrived in Asgard.
In Valhalla, Artemis is still hingeing on the rules of the local gods and must fulfill her destiny through tournament matches. Sensing her mutual frustration, Nix took her under his wing, and the two sparred frequently to hone her scythe skills. As Orion's reputation grows in the arena, Artemis wonders if all of Asgard is too infected to save.
