Armor King also traveled in search of worthy opponents to fight one-on-one, earning him a reputation as a dojo-breaker. One day, he met Paul Phoenix, who was working as a bouncer at the dojo. During these expeditions, Armor King I encountered another wrestler wearing a jaguar mask, with a similar title of "King". Intrigued, Armor King I went head-to-head with King in a fierce battle, but King I ultimately lost due to an injury to his eye. A rivalry developed between the two, resentful of the success King I had gained and lost in the Mexican wrestling world. Armor King I pays attention to the King of Iron Fist Tournament, a mixed martial arts contest in which his rival is participating, in order to raise funds for the orphanage he runs, and decides to decide the match himself. Participated. Although Armor King I would suffer his second defeat, the two became friends and sparring partners, and their rivalry became more friendly.
Although King was able to defeat his nemesis, he was unable to win the tournament, instead taking third place. Despite winning prize money in the tournament, King I's orphanage fell into financial trouble. This, combined with the death of a child in King I's care, led King I to despair and turn to alcohol. As King I's behavior became increasingly erratic, a concerned Armor King convinced his old friend and rival to resume training for a second tournament. Both competed and fought as rivals again, but neither was able to win the tournament. At this time, Armor King I's health deteriorated significantly, and he developed heart disease, was coughing up blood, and his vision became blurred. These health conditions continued for the next 15 years.
Sixteen years after the second tournament, the King I was attacked and killed by Ancient Ogre, the god of fighting. Armor King I lost his friend and fell into depression. He learns about the new King II, an orphan from King I's orphanage who wears the King I's mask and attempts to fight for the orphanage without much success. Armor King I sought him out and helped train him so he could pay for the upkeep of the orphanage. When King II became strong enough, the Armor King I tearfully told him the circumstances surrounding King I's death. He then helped King II prepare for the third King of Iron Fist tournament. In this tournament, King II fights to honor the name of his predecessor and take revenge on Ancient Ogre, known as True Ogre, who killed King I.
About a year after the third tournament, Armor King I was at a bar in Arizona and intervened in a fight started by a Val Tudo fighter, Craig Marduk. Armor King I was killed in the process.
His exploits motivate the future Iron First Tournaments to participate until King II reconciles with Marduk, after which King I's younger brother in Armor King II takes over the mission of revenge for his younger brother. After his death, the Armor King I wears a mask to parody him, when he spurs King II into battle, and when Marduk digs a grave to make sure Armor King I is still dead.
