Aquarius Camus

Aquarius Camus is one of the prominent characters and one of the antagonists/anti-heroes of Saint Seiya. He is one of the Gold Saints. He is the guardian of the 11th House in the Sanctuary, the Aquarius Temple.

Appearance[]

Camus is a fair-skinned man who, despite his size, has a considerable build, which allows him to sustain amazing physical combat. In the manga, his hair is red, and his eyes and nails are also painted the same color. In the anime, Camus has long turquoise hair that reaches his waist, and his eyes are navy blue.

Although he is commonly seen wearing golden armor, he is one of the few Gold Saints to be seen wearing a training suit as an adult, and a purple sleeveless shirt despite being in the snow. He is wearing light clothes and beige pants. Camus wears a similar outfit in Soul of Gold, but his shirt is green and his pants are blue, and Camus as a child wears a beige coat. In the cartoon, he is seen wearing a winter coat, black pants, and gloves when training young Hyoga in Siberia.

Personality[]

Camus is obviously stoic, cold and distant. He believes that he will never be angry as a saint of gold, which will draw people into despair. His cold attitude is based on control of them, not based on suppressing his emotions. He wants to fight to believe that he is right and do anything to protect his ideals. He has a great sense of responsibility and is very faithful to his duty. He looks cold, but he is kind.

In the manga, he revealed to his student Hyoga that he knew that the Pope was not working under Athena's will, and showed a deep knowledge of the knights and the events around him. Despite the suspicion of the Pope's malice, he always adopted a neutral posture. Since Camus is a decisive factor in the war, it is a practical knight that recognizes strength and the universe, so this looks like a cautious place.

However, later. He was glad to see his student's Hyoga fighting for the real Athena, which was to train his students to help him reach zero remaining. Camus has always been doing things in his own way according to his will. He shows a strong inconsistency that he preaches to Hyoga because his motivation often continues for such personal reasons, rather than responding so much to the conflicts and external events around him. In his attachment to the students or the soul of gold, he follows the promise he has made an old friend.

Overall, Camus is committed to justice, only allow Seiya and Shun to pass the Aquarius's house freely, and only face Hyoga for his claim. Cams fights frankly like a true knight, but is overcome by his students. In Episode G have a better exploring of Camus' prestigious side, focusing on protecting innocent people, whether ordinary soldiers or residents in Titan towns. He believes that the Golden Saints must always keep their cool heads, reassure low-ranking people in the era of crisis and help them support them. He also shares his friendship with Milo and shares his thoughts with his friends about his students during the sanctuary war.
