Akame, also known as Akame from Demon Sword Murasame, is the heroine of the title along with Tatsumi, the main anti-heroine of the manga series Akame ga Kill!, and the protagonist of the prequel manga Akame ga Kill! Zero. She also appears in Hinowa ga Yuku! as a major supporting character, primarily as Hinata's personal swordsmanship teacher and elder class combat teacher. Akame was initially sold to the Empire along with her sister Kurome to be trained as assassins, but ended up joining the rebels when they were sent to assassinate Night Raid leader General Najenda. He defected and joined the rebel army to overthrow the corrupt monarchy.

Akame appears to be a very serious and ruthless person due to the hellish training the Empire forced on her and her sister, but in the end it is revealed that she is simply socially awkward.
